Lamborghini Aventador LP 780-4 Ultimae
A tribute to the company’s ferocious V12 engine, the Lamborghini Aventador LP 780-4 Ultimae is the latest Aventador to roll off the Italian company’s production lines, taking history, track records, and impressive sales numbers along with it.
Largely an SVJ, the Aventador takes the best bits and bobs from Aventadors of the past and puts them together to produce a grand finale-worthy car for the model series first launched in 2011, together with a V12 engine that traces its roots as far back as 1963.
The moniker LP780-4, Lamborghini says, is derived from the car engine’s 780 CV (770hp) power output along with its permanent four-wheel-drive system. Tweaked and enhanced to produce even more power with the new car, Lamborghini says the fiery V12 engine delivers its maximum possible power and performance and as a result, produces the fastest and most powerful Aventador ever.
The Ulitimae comes in two body types; a hardtop coupe version, and an open-top roadster.
Engine and Performance
Lamborghini’s 6.5-liter longitudinally positioned (or as Lamborghini says “Longitudinale Posteriore”) V12 engine comes packed with 770hp and 530lb-ft of torque. The engine produces approximately 40hp more than the Aventador S and 10hp more than the SVJ.
Power is delivered to the car’s permanent four-wheel-drive system through an Independent Shifting Rod (ISR) seven-speed transmission system, the same found on the Aventador SVJ. With a dry weight of just 3,417 pounds, the Ultimae is lighter than both the SVJ and the S. This, Lamborghini says, can be attributed to the extensive use of lightweight carbon fiber materials for the car’s monocoque and body components.
The car’s impressive weight-to-power ratio of 1.98kg/CV results in a 0-62mph time of just 2.8 seconds, and an impressive top speed of 220mph. The car’s carbon-ceramic brakes (CCB) ensure that it comes to a complete stop in just 98 feet from a speed of 62mph.
The SVJ’s drive modes are here too, so drivers can choose between STRADA, SPORT, CORSA, and EGO. The last of these, Lamborghini says, lets drivers set their own parameters giving them the freedom to customize the active suspension, steering, and traction controls.
Exterior and Interior
Design-wise, the Ulitimae looks like the typical Aventador, sporting the curves and muscles that we’ve grown to love from the series. Naturally, aerodynamic tweaks and enhancements are here too. The car carries over its predecessors' front splitter, and air ducts. There aren’t any major differences to report in terms of design, and many will be hard-pressed to point out any differences between the car and its predecessors when put side by side.
The Lamborghini Ultimae coupe was unveiled in a two-tone, grey-on-grey configuration, accented by 'Matt Red' whereas ‘Blu Tawaret’ and 'Blu Nethuns' are the colors of choice for the Roadster.
Of course, buyers of the car have a wide array of colors and customization options to choose from, with the Italian company revealing that 18 colors will come as standard. Meanwhile, more than 300 colors will be available with the company’s Lamborghini Ad Personam program.
Black leather and Alcantara components heavily feature on the inside as a customizable TFT digital dashboard handles communication and entertainment.
Lamborghin says that 300 units of the coupe and 250 units of the Rioadster will be produced. The car will make its first public appearance at the Goodwood Festival of Speed from July 8 to 11 in West Sussex, England.
