For many who were around during the 80s and 90s, two Lamborghini cars were among the most iconic four-wheelers that dominated conversations between enthusiasts and young fans.
The Countach and Diablo remain iconic in the minds of many Lamborghini fans and continue to generate excitement. Whenever either one is on display, a crowd forms around it, fueling healthy conversations.
The fact that Eccentrica was working on a restomodacademy.com/what-is-a-restomod/ rel="nofollow" target="_black">restomod of a Diablo called the Eccentrica V12 isn't news. Rather, it is the unveiling of a fully functional car at the iconic Quail A Motorsport Gathering car show that has caught everyone's attention. Preceded by a private press event the night before, excitement was building before the world premiere.

As the engine roared to life close to the end of the Eccentrica press event at The Quail, the 5.7-liter V12 powerhouse left an impression that there's plenty of power under the hood. There it was; a live view of a classic/modern Lamborghini Diablo - The Eccentrica V12.
Emanuel Colombini, Lamborghini collector, Super Trofeo driver, and president of Eccentrica, led the press conference where the car was uncovered to the delight of Diablo fans.
Depending on who you ask, the Diablo is seen as one of the most iconic regular production Lamborghinis ever made, and it's great to see it given a 'second life' by Eccentrica.

The engine produces a respectable 550hp and 600Nm of torque. The powerhouse is paired with a custom 6-speed manual transmission with a gated gearbox. Also new are a power steering system, camshafts, electronic throttle body, and an optimized flywheel. The upgrades have allowed an improved top speed estimated at 208mph (from 200mph).
Other improvements include a front axle lift system, the use of composite materials and a double wishbone suspension to reinforce the chassis components. With a car this fast, you need a reliable braking system. A Brembo system with matte-painted calipers (a first for Brembo) is part of the package to provide the braking performance required for such a beast.
Pirelli P Zero Trofeo R tires are responsible for keeping the car firmly on the surface to ensure the driver has the needed grip at high speeds. The tires sit on light custom 19-inch aluminum alloy wheels to offer a firm driving experience.

On the inside, you have a blend of modern and classic elements. While modern technology has been integrated into the steering wheel, dashboard instruments, and new infotainment system, the interior still has that classic look perhaps best emphasized by the gated gearbox. Other interesting additions include cameras on the rearview mirror and control surfaces.
All these upgrades give the Diablo a second life, at least for the 19 owners who will have the pleasure of getting the restomod. Shortly after the event, we spoke to Emanuel Colombini, and we asked why Eccentrica chose to offer 19 cars. It seemed like a peculiar choice.

Look out for the full interview to see his answer to that (yes, there's a story to the number 19) and many other questions about him and the Eccentrica brand.
