The Off-road Lamborghini Huracán Sterrato - A little dirt can't hurt

Normally, people avoid dirt roads while driving a Huracán. However, no dust cloud (big or little) can hurt the Sterrato. In fact, it's ready to take on as much dust as the driver can find. After all, it's supposed to be a capable off-road supercar that's begging to be driven in the dirt.

In 2019, Lamborghini unveiled the Huracán Sterrato’s production concept, which was received with enthusiasm from industry players. Now that the real thing is finally here, it remains to be seen how well sportscar and off-road enthusiasts will receive it.

Engine

The Huracán Sterrato is powered by Lamborghini’s iconic naturally-aspirated 5.2-liter V-10 engine. In this case, the engine’s performance is limited to 610 CV and 560 Nm of torque at 6500 rpm. Mated to the engine is a 7-speed dual-clutch gearbox that channels the engine's output to an electronically controlled all-wheel drive system with a self-locking rear mechanical differential.

For better off-road capabilities, the Sterrato comes with a more refined iteration of the LDVI (Lamborghini Integrated Vehicle Dynamics) system with specific Strada and Sport calibrations and an all-new Rally mode for low-grip conditions. The Huracán Sterrato will accelerate from 0 to 62mph in 3.4 seconds and from 0 to 124mph in 9.8 seconds maxing out at a top speed of 161.5mph.

Exterior Design

With the Huracán Sterrato, Lamborghini sought to create a tough and aesthetic car that would not only resonate with the company’s loyal fan base but also be capable of venturing off the grid. As such the all-new machine ships with a more robust design and tougher components to combat dirt, gravel, and sandy surfaces. It’s not hard to conclude that most Huracán fans imagined that the off-road version would look like this, so no surprises here.

At the front, the Sterrato comes with underbody protection, sills and wheel arches that emphasize the car’s muscular stance, and an optional pair of horizontal LED lights complimenting the main headlights. On top, a pair of roof rails are added for holding in-rally lightbars and roof tents while an inlet scoop on the rear hood feeds the engine with clean air, helping avoid the intake of water and dirt.

Additionally, a 44mm increase in ride height over the Huracán EVO ensures greater suspension travel while robust all-terrain tires with aggressive treads offer the grip to resist the ravages of off-road driving.

Interior

On the inside, the all-new powerhouse maintains a lot of the components and features of previous Huracáns. As such, Alcantara (Verde Sterrato Alcantara to be precise) is the material of choice with the car’s doors, sports seats, dashboard, and steering wheel all wrapped in the material.

A center console display with updated graphics controls a slew of features that include; a digital inclinometer, steering angle indicator, compass, and a geographic coordinate indicator.

With a $270,000 price tag and only 1499 to be made, production for the limited-edition car is set to commence in February 2023. Along with the recently announced Porsche 911 Dakar, the Huracán Sterrato begins a new era of super sports car off-roading, one that will only get more interesting in the near future.
